And as her family continued to stand baffled before the seeable desolation in hushed terrifying silence, the sheer realisation pop eyed them all was not an impetuous reaction but a well laid plan by Jhanak to walk off from mayhem having consumed their lives.. She finally chose chaos over people and fell in love with herself.
The entire family was in a state of shock after Jhanak’s announcement. It was a reminder of the family and how complicated relationships among its members’ reactions ranged. Her mother, who was very close to Jhanak all these years, looked dazed. Pearl was not convinced that her daughter would willingly go, and she suffered worry on a grand scale.
Jhanak’s father however was muddled. He was able to fathom the anger in Jhanak, but he felt let down by her walking away. Conflicted between being a father and his own pride, he debated with himself back-and-forth.
Sportingly, siblings of Jhanak were surprised. Jhanak, who was the glue to bind them all had never thought she would do something like sneeze. And they were angry, and saddened at the same time two emotions you’d suspect would leave a burning memory in their relationships for years to come.
The reason behind Jhanak’s decision was what the episode went on to explore. Jhanak wanted the silence for a change, not because it was better than bickering all day long in her household; she needed to find herself again. All of the issues with her growing family made it impossible to manage and she wanted space so that she could rediscover herself.
This episode also has a lot to do with Jhanak and her need for autonomy, identity.
