Katha opens up to her best friend Viaan about how uncertain she is regarding the surgery and what it will cost them. Viaan supports her emotionally, tells her to be strong and have faith that she can do it. Those words bring her some solace, but it is obvious that Katha has no clue where she fits in.
This episode also marks Viaan and Kathaโs new beginning in life with the latter getting into troubles. His character, who was once shown as kind of ostracised and self-centred, has softened a bit here insofar he genuinely cares for Katha & Aarav. In the upcoming episode, Viaan decides to help katha financially even though he knows that she is thinking about it.
It is difficult for Katha, who set out to be independent and headstrong early in life to have leaned on someone other than herself. Her ghar ki izzat and the responsibility she feels towards her family makes it hard on Simran to take up Viaanโs offer despite how much easier it could make things for her. This tug-of-war, the push-and-pull between her desire to handle it on her own and her absolute need of help is one if not THE main theme in this episode.
This scene portrays the complexity of Katha perfectly in that then and there episode. An affectionate mother, she is also a very independent woman who wants to live life standing on her two feet despite the adversities. It shows how she is a weak but strong person as in the following interaction we see with Viaan which really makes us feel for it.
Katha gives priority to Aaravโs health and she is seen reminding him that he will have the normal bowel movement. Doctors tell her that the surgery needs to be soon, and she faces risks on top of it. It has an emotional buildup of Katha coming to terms with the true reality sheโs living in. She has a heart full of love for Aarav but everything comes with its price.
Heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, his scenes with Aarav make us love him even more! There is one brief respite, as his innocence and unshakeable trust in his mother sheds some light on what is otherwise a very stressful episode. But where on one hand Katha is striving hard with her personal chaos, the Shah family too have their own share of problems and disgraces to deal within. It brings an extra shade of drama & complexity to the episode, as few members in the family have started thinking now regarding Kathaโs role and her relation with Viaan. While some speculate she is too invested in padding her personal life, others say they understand the situation.
That subplot teases some friction in the future as things change at home and characters start aligning. It is here where Katha will be forced to find her strength, but not only thatโshe will have the expectations of those closest who are trying so very hard to reduce and control everything.
At the end of this episode Katha has to make a life changing choice. Was she supposed to accept Viaanโs help which could lead her to lose whatever independence that was left, or should keep on trying? Itโs more than an economic decision: it speaks to Katha and her priorities.
It ends on a cliffhanger with Katha standing outside the hospital pondering her fate. Her expression [is] equal parts determination and confusion, so where will she go?!
