The actions Neeti is taking are slow, but precise. I press all of Rajeev’s buttons, she doesn’t know his vulnerabilities were there to manipulate yet. She sows the seed of doubt in his mind against Parineeti asking for her innocence. It is getting clear that Neeti is much more manipulative than she seems and how far she can go just to keep her place in Rajeev’s life.
However, it is the contradiction of Neeti, a Willy Loman in a sheath dress that presents an inherently intriguing character. She might look supportive, caring, and friendly but the reality is that she only acts out of her own interests because it serves her, her goals and she gets something in return (power). It just adds to the ambiguity, so you are always apprehensive about what she is going to do next.
Even as Rajeev and Neeti play out their emotional tug-of-war, Parineeti becomes more isolated. A far more vulnerable Asha moves her attention away from Sadaqat and focuses on the increasingly vast gap in their relationship with Rajeev; it is an episode that touches heavily upon vulnerability. In this episode, Parineeti reaches out to Rajeev in the hope of clearing a few things. She tells him that she’s worried about them, while his vague answers have her even more on edge. Parineeti is heartbroken, and she seems to be at the mercy of Neeti.
Though scared, Parineeti has not braced herself to let her head bow on losing her life term relationship with Rajeev. The notable thing about her is that she remains relentless in the face of hardship and it’s sort of hard not to cheer for Nadia as she battles to keep what matters most. The character arc of Parineeti is a nuanced one executed beautifully with a stoic & silent yet poignant strength which adds layers to the story.
Tensions escalating, the episode finally leads to a showdown between Rajeev and Neeti. Fed up of all the chaos and the emotional turmoil, Rajeev finally questions Neeti about her manipulations. But Neeti still weaves through his accusations with a seasoned nimbleness, all the while steering their conversation back to him. There is a scene where she accuses him of planning something behind her back and essentially guilts him out of his own belief.
This encounter further complicates matters for Rajeev. Neeti can be so manipulative and manages to soften Rajeev, who gets confused like never before. The argument barely solves anything and only paves the way for more trouble in episodes to come.
