As she does with many others, Meera offers some words of inspiration in response to Aasha reflecting on how far she has already come and everything that she has battled through. Their bond is a pivotal point of the series, and in this special episode, they are emphasising how much it matters to have people rooting for you when you decide to pursue what makes you happy.
The positivity of Meera juxtaposes the uncertainty in Aasha, and yet is so apt for what Aasha requires at that moment. There is a warmth to it, as their relationship is truly brotherly. If she accepts the program, Aasha will be away from her family for an extended time which could fracture their already strained relationship. Which means Aasha has a new fork in the road: stay close to everyoneโs family & honey in Hobart, or go where no feminist tennis player ever really wanted to go before and chase the dream of voluntarily embracing being alone on tour?
This episode carries Aashaโs character, better explained:- her aspiration and the devotion she holds to Viral and how hard she makes an effort in trying to balance them both truly. For her it represents a crossroads or cul-de-sac, as the case may be in just a few days.
The episode takes a turn when Aasha tells her family about the offer. Her mother is proud of everything her daughter has accomplished, but at the same time she also fears for her safety and well-being. Despite winning medals and gaining popularity, Aashaโs father is unsupportive of her career as he feels the profession is very risky for a girl.
This is followed by an ugly argument, as Aasha puts her foot down and faces off against her father to assert herself for the first time in her life. She is asking him to remember that this is not just a job for her; itโs about who she is and her needing to find the strength in her life to show herself that she can be successful doing something that prior to women stepping into, was strictly a man-land.
This was one of the most powerful scenes in this episode that also showed how strong-headed Aasha is. This also plants the seed for later showdowns โ Aasha and her fatherโs relationship is presumably ruined, with Kabita picking a side in their disagreement.
Viewers are left to wonder what Aasha is going to do as the episode wraps. To accept the airlineโs offer and breathe new life into her existence, or resign herself to a lifetime valuing family over personal achievement?
